Rwanda

Rwanda is a small country in the heart of Africa. A great resource for information on any country is the CIA Factbook. The Factbook page for Rwanda is located at https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/rw.html.

Rwandan Flag

three horizontal bands of sky blue (top, double width), yellow, and green, with a golden sun with 24 rays near the fly end of the blue band; blue represents happiness and peace, yellow economic development and mineral wealth, green hope of prosperity and natural resources; the sun symbolizes unity, as well as enlightenment and transparency from ignorance

Rwandan Genocide

For most Americans, the 1994 genocide is immediately what comes to mind when they hear the country name Rwanda. You may have the perception that Rwanda is a dangerous place to live, but it is relatively safe and has a low rate of corruption. The country is making much progress and is working hard to move on after the atrocities that  took place there. Many Americans know little about the genocide. This Frontline page is a good place to start.
